A Shock To The System

I read an amazing article by Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer on how cancer starts in the brain with an initial trauma. Because different areas of the brain can affect different organs, the outcome of a trauma, hence cancer in some cases, can end up in a particular organ. Each organ/organ meridian in Chinese medicine relates to different emotions. Therefore, an individual can end up with health challenges in different areas of the body, whether it is cancer or some other health difficulty.

One of the most interesting issues contributing to cancer discussed by Dr. Hamer is that a trauma has a greater chance of taking hold in the body if a person feels there is no resolution to the trauma – a feeling of hopelessness and inability to accept the change.

I reflected upon all of the patients I have worked with who have had cancer and realized that they had experienced a loss or other trauma in their lives at some point in which they initially believed they could not recover from or find a way to make a positive change that would allow them to regain a sense of safety and security and/or happiness.

As an integrative practitioner I have repeatedly seen how emotional trauma can manifest physically. My role is to help individuals uncover these emotional roots, release them and empower them in their healing journey.

Healing starts with acknowledging the mind-brain-body connection and taking responsibility for one’s health. Watching clients release their burdens and heal is incredibly rewarding.
